This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and ambitious candidate with relevant petroleum engineering experience. The role offers great potential to quickly develop your technical skills, and your commercial and managerial understanding of exploration and development, within a dynamic Company set for further expansion.

Requirements: The successful candidate will have:
•	As required, support data migration projects and the transferring of data from corporate, project and application data stores.
•	Implementation projects may require onsite support (e.g. 1 to 3 weeks at a time) or via remote access.
•	In order to help manage and enhance customer relations, you will provide regular follow-up calls to clients in a timely and professional manner, visit client sites to resolve problems etc., provide status updates, and report problems.

Preferences: The successful candidate will have:
•	Degree in a numerate discipline such as computer science, IT, or geoscience related essential. A geology/logging/petrophysical academic background advantageous.
•	Academic or work experience of Well Data essential.
•	Excellent client liaison skills as you will deal with clients across Europe, Africa, Middle East and Far East region.
•	Excellent communication skills – ability to relay technical information in an easy to understand manner.
•	Motivated and enthusiastic with a positive attitude.
•	Attentiveness to detail & responsive to client needs.
•	Can work independently and also be an excellent team player – must be able to deliver installations effectively.
•	Highly flexible – ability to adapt to new project challenges and work practices.
•	Drive and ambition to succeed within a fast growing Company.
•	European languages beneficial.

When you look at the economic landscape today, things might not look so good. However, there are some sectors of the global economy that are doing quite well and are growing by leaps and bounds. One such sector is that of oil and gas. The demand for fuel has never been higher and millions of people are realizing that right now. Whether it’s the common man pumping gas at an inflated rate or it’s the large company that is trying to harvest the natural resources of oil in a far off land, there are a great deal of companies that are looking for more bodies to help with the demand that seems to have no end in sight. If you are looking for a career and you have a variety of skills, you need to look into this industry today.

For those that are skeptical, there are several different categories that you can jump into when dealing with this type of industry. Consider the following sectors that need workers in this field.

IT & Communications – Believe it or not, harvesting and creating fuel sources requires a great deal of information technology work. There are positions available for anyone that has a skill set on a computer. You could work from home or abroad in a foreign country, and make a good leap in salary if you have the skills that are required for many jobs. If you can code software, build websites, or create databases for information gathering and communication than you are desperately needed.

Administration – As with all major industries, there is a lot of paperwork that is needed to make sure that a company runs smoothly. With so many different companies trying to run a legitimate business, administration becomes something that is desperately needed. Whether you’re a human resources expert, an accountant, file clerk, or just about any part of an office, your skills can translate quite well into the many companies that are working in the oil and gas industry.

Engineering – For those that are looking to put their engineering degrees to good use, this is one place where it’s definitely needed and required. Drilling for fossil fuels and establishing parameters that are safe and efficient is the job of engineers that have the educational foundation to figure out complex issues that are being dealt with abroad and at home.

The above sectors are just 3 of the many different areas that need workers today. If you have searched high and low for a career path that fits your adventurous spirit and you have a certain skill set, you can find work at home, abroad, and throughout the world that pays quite well. Just think for a moment, are you paying too much for gas in your car? If the answer is yes, than you realize that the demand for fuel is high, and there are companies that are trying to deliver that to the millions of people that require it on a regular basis. You could be a part of those companies, as they are offering benefits, salary, and so much more to workers that are willing to jump into the fray

There are currently a lot of different jobs that you can get involved with. However, many of them aren’t going to pay you that well and you might end up just trying to go day by day without struggle. Many people settle for rudimentary jobs in a down economy, and it can prove to be something good, but if you are tired of that kind of world, and you want to rise up to something new and fresh, consider a job that will put you in a new land, a land that might not seem amazing, until you set foot at a large company that needs you in an industry that is so high in demand, it is nearly ubiquitous around the world. Of course, what this is a call to action for those that want to make money, see the world, and explore the many available Middle East jobs.

At first glance you might not be so ecstatic about this notion, but consider that the oil and gas industry that is thriving in the Middle East right now is in demand and it seems to be unending. Think about it in your own personal life. You most likely drive a car and you have to pay the price that has been rising exponentially year after year. Now imagine if you were a part of that industry, the industry that is harvesting gas and oil as well as finding new ways to fuel the growing demand. If you can picture yourself making an impact in that industry, you are ready to see the many opportunities that are available to you today.

First and foremost, it’s important to understand that many of the Middle East jobs that are available are in a variety of sectors, so you don’t need to fear that you don’t have the matching skill set that many of the positions require. There are several different categories that you can jump into when you cycle through the open slots at any major company that is looking for workers. For instance, if you’re a computer programmer, there are a lot of companies that are looking for GIS and other application designers and you can fit right in with a company that will pay you a good salary, and allow you to see a side of the world that many only dream about.

If you’re not a computer expert, that’s ok. You could find work in administration, sales, marketing, management, and just about any type of role you could think of. When you consider oil and gas jobs you have to remember that they are mostly being offered by large companies, and to run a business they need several different components. Many of the components needed are not jobs that you might think are available, but they are and they need to be filled by qualified applicants, which is why they are turning to an international market of people that are willing to relocate and earn a living that is far better than flipping burgers in a down economy to make ends meet. If you are at all curious, check out the available positions today, and see how far you can go within this industry that seems to only grow in size while others shrink.

When you turn on the media you often times find that there are abysmal numbers in the job sector. Millions of people are unemployed and currently trying to make ends meet, and there seems to be no growth in terms of employment options. If you are looking to get out of a rut or are just tired of the constant drawbacks of the workforce, why not look into offshore jobs in a different industry?

Imagine for a moment that you’re a part of an industry that is very much in demand, and you work in a position that will take you to a beach resort, with family friendly community, and the job that you do is exciting, pays well, and comes with a benefits package that will rival most executives in high rises. If that all sounds too good to be true, you probably aren’t ready to explore the many offshore jobs that are available right now in the gas and oil industry.

Among the many different global industries, the one that is very much in demand compared to all others is the one that is helping people gain access to fuel. Think about it for a moment, the gas prices are insane, they keep going up, and the demand for it doesn’t seem to wane. Well, there are companies that are not only harvesting gas, they are trying to meet the growing demand, and they need help. You could be part of their teams, and you could enjoy the many benefits of working in this field.

There are some skeptics that are finding this all too good, and that’s true. It’s definitely good, and something that does come with something that should be mentioned here, and that’s moving. For many offshore jobs in this industry you’ll have to move away from the United States. For instance, if you wanted to work offshore for a large company as a deep sea analyst or something along those lines, some of the destinations that need help are located in West Africa. That might sound crazy to some, but that is just part of the adventure. You will be placed in a first world location, beach resort, with all the amenities that you would come to expect from a top notch corporation, paid in full, and given the opportunity to see a part of the world that millions pay a lot of money to see.

If you are tired of the mundane, and you are looking for a career path that is full of excitement, and will pay you to see the world, you have to look into the many oil and gas positions that are offshore. You won’t regret it, and there’s nothing to lose when you apply to be one of the many workers that are in this sector that keeps growing by leaps and bounds every year. Whether you feel that you’re qualified or not, at least explore the openings in this field and see what all the hype is about, you might just change your mind.

When it comes to finding work in these modern times, many people don’t realize that there are some growing sectors that need workers immediately. One of the biggest sectors that are growing overseas right now is that of engineering. Not just those that have degrees in the field, but those that are looking to join the fray of oil and gas jobs. Large scale companies are working towards not only harvesting, but also analyzing, and more. Physical work, computer work, and so much more is needed today to run these large scale operations and the more demand for oil there is the more and more people are needed on a grander scale.

If you’re not quite familiar with engineering at all, that’s ok, because there are specialized positions that will have you enjoying a great career with not only a high pay scale but also many benefits. You don’t need to be an expert, you simply need to be willing to learn as you go and have a knack for learning fast. Whether you look for domestic gigs or you look overseas, you’ll see that there are a lot of different positions that you could jump into and gain a foothold in.

For those that are on the fence about this idea, it’s important to realize that the demand is at an all time high for oil and gas. Think about it on a local front, and you’ll soon realize that there seems to be no end in sight for the demand in workers. Consider the price of gas that has shifted in the last decade. The majority of the world has seen the price of fuel skyrocket, and it continues to rise exponentially, which has increased the demand for harvesting, and investigating alternative fuel sources. These large companies that are doing all the research as well as the harvesting need hundreds of thousands of people that are willing to jump into the trade and help them continue to supply the growing demand for these items.

Oil and gas jobs might seem like something that is too good to be true, but when you start to break down the different short term and long term positions you will realize fast that it’s a lucrative industry to get involved with. If you have previous industry skills that can translate well into this one, you’ll be delighted with the many opportunities that are available for both domestic and foreign work. For instance, if you’re a computer analyst right now and you’re tired of the same old cubicle, you could end up in London, as a GIS Developer. Now that might not sound appealing to some, but to those that are looking for a change of pace, this type of permanent position is definitely something that is full of intrigue.

No matter what your skill-set is right now, you will find that there are positions available in all areas of this industry and as stated above, the more demand there is for gas and oil, the more positions will open up. You could be earning a lot more right now, and you don’t even realize it.

When it comes to finding a job in a down economy, it can seem like there is nothing out there to look into. However, there are some sectors that are growing by leaps and bounds on a global scale. For instance, oil and gas jobs are growing despite an economic downturn of global proportions. The reason for this is simple; the supply and demand rule is in true effect. Millions of people need fuel to get to and from work, travel, and so much more, and there are a limited amount of resources. Even though there are limits, there are a lot of companies that are harvesting, engineering, and calculating ways to get more resources to the general public, and those companies need a lot of infrastructure to work properly, which means that they are hiring right now.

If you have never really though about this industry, it’s one that can provide you with a career that is more than just another job. There are several different positions that you can acquire in a variety of different departments with any number of companies that are working towards a brighter future. Among those many positions you will find that there are manual labor, information technology, marketing, administration, management, and much more available for those that are looking for a chance to prove themselves of great value.

For those that are looking to get away from the mundane there are a wealth of opportunities available overseas, offshore and more. You could end up working at a large company in England, for instance, and be a part of a growing team that works towards a variety of thing sin the oil and gas field. You could end up at a computer somewhere exotic, or you could enjoy a beach resort with all the amenities and still get paid. There are so many jobs that these companies have gone international to try and recruit people that want to work outside of the traditional and are willing to relocate in many ways.

If you’re not keen on leaving the country or don’t want to really pursue something that is going to take you away from your home and family, then consider the many information technology positions that are available and can have you working from home and getting a hefty sum in terms of salary. If that sounds like something that you would like to explore, than you owe it to yourself to look into the many different open positions available today.

Finding oil and gas jobs in a down economy is not that complicated. Those that have discovered this growing field have great things to say about the benefits, travel, and so much more that is available as part of one of the most in demand career paths in the world. There are many jobs and not enough people to fill them, which means that if you apply, and are qualified you can enjoy, the rewards of working with things that make the world go round in many ways.

The United States produces approximately five million barrels of oil a day and imports almost twice as much. There is a constant demand for oil so companies are always conducting exploration activities to find new oil sources as well as improving current technologies. According to the American Petroleum Institute, there are 148 refineries in the United States run by over 50 companies with the largest concentration in the Gulf of Mexico. Across the country, oil and gas jobs have increased and are well-rewarded. Mining, quarrying and extraction of gas and oil employment are growing continuously. There are over a million people currently employed in this sector, mainly men. Average earnings are almost $80,000 per year.

The biggest employers in the United States are in Texas and Oklahoma with oil and gas jobs in Texas numbering almost half a million. The highest paying jobs are actually in Alaska due to the working conditions. Most of these jobs are in construction and extraction. Management positions are the next highest percentage and at the lower end, science and engineering jobs, such as petroleum engineers, take up 8% of the positions. There is a high demand for managers whether they are general managers or operations managers and these jobs are amongst the most well paid. The highest paid are the most technically skilled such as engineers and scientists. However, there are non-technical jobs available such as drivers and in administrative roles.

Prior to 2008, there was a ban on offshore rigs off the coast of the United States. Since the ban was lifted, companies have been able to exploit the resources in the Pacific and Atlantic oceans. This has meant billions in revenue to the United States government and has provided much needed employment. Offshore exploration is one of the most heavily regulated industries and companies are subject to strict regulations and standards meaning that safety records are excellent. As technologies improve, they become ever safer.

People may be surprised that oil jobs are available across the contiguous states and by the wide range of skills that the industry recruits for. A lot of the drilling and mining jobs are currently in either Pittsburgh or Houston and refining and petrochemical jobs are open in these cities as well. Pretty much every employment field is represented in the oil and gas industry. So, if you are a health and safety advisor, a human resources manager or a software developer, it is possible to be employed in the oil and gas industry. The largest and most well known corporations in the industry are always looking for people with a wide range of skills and experience.

There are numerous websites on the internet that are advertising oil and gas industry jobs. Websites such as Rigzone.com can be checked for the latest news as well as for looking for situations vacant. Local newspapers in areas such as Texas, Oklahoma and Alaska are also a good resource for job vacancies and most of these will have their own website. Uploading your resume to one of the recruitment websites is often the easiest way of finding employment in this industry.

The oil and gas industry is one of the most exciting industries to work in at the moment. It has shown significant growth where other industries are declining. The industry is constantly evolving as new oil and gas fields are discovered and new techniques for extraction are required. Expat jobs are available in a variety of countries across the world. There are a lot of contract jobs, lasting for around six months, and these are mainly in remote locations such as Libya and Angola. These places can be dangerous but the work is always interesting and well-rewarded. However, there are also permanent jobs in exotic locations as well.

There are some job sectors that are more in demand than others but there are openings across the board. Expat engineering jobs are always available with companies advertising for contract engineers, petroleum engineers and electrical engineers. You don’t have to have a lot of experience in oil and gas to work in this area however. Offshore rigs still need people to do trade work and so employ welders and electricians. Everyone needs to be fed as well so cooks are always needed.

Both the United States and the United Kingdom have a lot of jobs available in the oil and gas industry. However, although you may get a job working for a large multinational company, the countries that you could work in are varied. Obviously, the Middle East has a lot of oil reserves and you could be employed in Bahrain, Kuwait or Qatar. These countries have a lot of expats working in them and the working conditions and accommodation are of a high standard. Jobs in Africa tend to be on contracts and living standards are more basic but wages compensate this plus the fact that you may be away from your family for a long time. Employment opportunities in Europe include working in Norway, France and Denmark.

If you are looking for a rewarding career in an exciting and ever changing field, then the oil and gas industry is for you. With a lot of jobs available in this sector, it can be easy to get the work that you are looking for. There are a lot of websites that allow you to upload your resume and complete a profile so that employers can see your skills and contact you in case they match what they are looking for. With the current recession in the West, Arabic countries are finding it easy to recruit expats. Along with the excellent salary that energy companies provide, there is often no income tax. A lot of the Middle Easter countries are expanding their crude oil output and so there will be plenty of work in this industry for years to come.

Expats can often be part of a fast track package where every couple of years, you will be given a new challenge possibly in another country or region. Most companies offer free food, travel and accommodation and there may be the opportunity for you to bring your family with you.Learning a new culture, meeting new people in new countries can be some of the advantages of the expat lifestyle. It can be a fast paced lifestyle but ultimately rewarding.

Across the world, there are over 5000 companies drilling for oil. They work across North and South America, the Middle East and Africa. Opportunities to work in these companies are great and there are many openings at all levels and skill sets. Roustabouts are always in demand being a jack of all trades on rigs and in oilfields.

WHAT IS A ROUSTABOUT?

In the oil and gas industry, a roustabout maintains everything in an oil field. They will take on a number of tasks such as maintaining salt water disposal pumps, roughneck drilling and well servicing. Generally, the job requires little training but an experienced roustabout can complete some of the most dangerous jobs on the rig. The roustabout job often gets bad press because it is seen as one of the worst jobs in terms of environment, physical demands and stress. You often work long hours and can be away from home for long periods. However, the job can be stimulating, challenging and exciting and is well paid.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Despite the job being considered dirty and hard work, most roustabouts really enjoy what they do. Because they are in charge of general maintenance, the job can be varied, working inside or outside, on ships or rigs. Roustabout jobs are available across the world meaning that you are able to travel as desired. The jobs can be as part of the crew on a rig or temporary workers on a contract.

While there are no specific qualifications that you need to hold in terms of education or technical experience, there are other skills needed for roustabout jobs. Applicants for these jobs need to be physically capable of lifting weights of up to 100 pounds. They need to be able to work in confined spaces and in marine environments typically in all weathers, be an excellent team member and follow safety standards and policies. General maintenance and manual labour experience is desired such as building fences, gates and digging trenches. A driving licence is usually a must. There is often the opportunity for roustabouts to move up into working on crews extracting oil.

HOW TO GET A ROUSTABOUT JOB

There are lots of roustabout jobs available in the United States and the salary is generally between $20,000 and $40,000. Roustabout jobs are easy to find on the internet and a quick search will throw up jobs across the world.

OIL AND GAS IN THE UK

The UK has large reserves of crude oil and natural gas. Behind Norway, it is the largest supplier of oil and gas in Europe. The majority of this is in the North Sea and companies such as ExxonMobil, Total and Shell all have exploration and extraction interests in the region. Approximately half a million jobs in the United Kingdom are in the oil and gas field and related services. While there are jobs across the country, almost half the employment is in Scotland mainly centred on Aberdeen. Jobs are highly skilled and well paid.

THE OIL & GAS ACADEMY

Oil and gas supply three quarters of the energy requirements of the UK. If the country was unable to produce this energy, it would be reliant on imports. Exploration is still an important part of this industry and The Oil & Gas Academy set up in 2007 aims to support UK employers in the area of offshore expertise and technology. It provides training and development for employees to ensure that the UK remains an international leader in the industry. The Academy encourages young people to take subjects such as math, science and engineering in order to safeguard the future of the UK oil and gas industry.

JOBS IN THE SECTOR

There are many jobs available in the UK in this sector at all levels. A quick look on the internet comes up with many jobs across the skill sets. Jobs in which the applicant needs a degree are the highest paid. The most in demand are geophysicists and petroleum engineers. Geophysicists analyze and interpret data gained from under the surface of the earth and design geological surveys. The term petroleum engineer generally covers a wide range of engineering disciplines in the oil and gas industry such as piping engineer, production engineer, operations engineer and completions engineer. Trade jobs are always required such as crane operators, electricians, welders and mechanics. There are non-technical jobs open in the industry as well because support staff is needed such as security guards, catering staff and administrative roles.

APPLYING FOR GAS AND OIL JOBS

Most of the big companies are represented and applying for jobs couldn’t be simpler. You can you’re your resume online through websites for recruiters to see. You can also apply for jobs that are posted. Some will have specific application instructions and it is likely that you will need to upload your resume as part of the application along with answering personal and professional questions.
